Do’s and Don’ts when organizing a product launch
What is a product launch? In simple, it’s an activity that makes your product known to the audience. In even more simpler terms, it’s the first impression!, and we all know how important that is.
You can do a lot of things right and a few things wrong and your launch could easily turn out not so great. So here are a few do’s and don’ts to remember when organizing a product launch.
Extremely Important!
Know and understand your product or service. Know your audience. Note down the deliverables of your launch. We would say these are the most vital factors that will enable your launch to be successful.
Do’s
1. Build hype on Social Media
Get everyone excited. Have enough time planned to end on teasers and make your teasers brief and creative. Key is to keep your audience guessing and looking forward to the launch. Encourage them to share content. If you o have the budget, throw in a few giveaways for people who engage with you.
2. Create an experience
From choosing your venue to lights to screens, you have to make sure you create the atmosphere that goes with the launch. For an instance, if you are launching a new smart device, we suggest you emphasizes the futuristic look and feel with smart screens, digital registrations etc.
3. Keep it simple but effective
This is where knowing the deliverables comes to play. You HAVE to know what you need to convey. This does not mean you don’t go into detail but keep it short. Try to use images and videos to communicate. Nobody wants to sit through a really long, boring speech. Have a few ice breakers in between and provide a snack if the sessions are long.
4. Give out merchandise
Brand awareness is of utmost importance at launch events, therefore, make sure you budget to print branded merchandise for participants to take away. The trick here is to give multiple smaller items that are useful on a daily basis which will help them remember your brand during their day. T-shits, caps, organizers, calendars, pens are a few commonly used merchandise at events.
5. Get feedback
Always have a way of getting the input of the experience and what they would like to know more along with their contact details so that you are able to generate leads.
DON’Ts
1. Invite everyone
Who’s everyone here? we mean everyone you know who would just not be interested. We suggest you create a guest list that includes your prospects, bloggers, journalists, and analysts as appropriate. Meaning, if you do not require a press release, you don’t need journalists present.
2. Forget to follow up
Subsequent to getting feedback, don’t put the business cards away. Don’t forget to do a round of calls and see if they require more information. Follow up is vital.
3. Don’t forget the little details
Why is this in the don’t rather then as a do? because these are what we often forget. So don’t forget to leave water bottles, note pads with pens, timers if you have more than one speaker, agenda’s handed out to coordinators etc.
And Hey! Don’t forget to be awesome!
