If you didn’t know already, Live Streaming is a thing and it’s a great platform to engage. Sounds interesting? Keep reading!

One might say that streaming is not that important, as they do regular posts on social media to engage and interact with their customers, but what some may not realize is that posting can be mostly business related; whereas live streaming helps an organization to showcase their culture and interact on a personal level with their audience.

Let’s dig a little deep to find out how to Live Stream, Successfully.

1. Build a strategy

Yes, you just need to click on “go live” but there’s some prepping to do. Have an agenda in place and highlight the areas that are a must to cover for your online audience, rather than trying to cover everything or parts that aren’t too relevant.

For example, if it’s a corporate event you can pick out some interesting topics that will be discussed or a session of a well known speaker to give live coverage. On the other hand, if it’s a concert or an entertainment event you can choose to go live when a you have a guest artist.

So “Prepping” is vital here.

2. Send out Teasers

Get your audience excited. Give them something to look forward to. You could also shout out with giveaways and you know you have them hooked. Always make sure you give out the date and time of your live stream in all your teasers.

3. Engage with your audience

Acknowledge people entering your live stream as an when you can. Be it answering their questions live, guests saying hello or dedicating a song, always make sure you address with their names in order to grab attention and add a personal touch. You can also ask the audience what they would like to see happening live.

4. Evaluate and grow

IMPORTANT. It’s vital that you review the results to see what you could have done better or avoided, what was successful, trends in audience behaviour and what platforms generated more engagement etc.

We suggest you record your live stream so that you could watch and learn and also use the recording on social media to reach target audiences.

Speaking of platforms, here’s what we think are most effective, user friendly and generates better reach.

  • Facebook Live

Facebook Live guarantees the largest audience and it’s super easy to set up.

  • Instagram Live

The more you go live, the more chances you get to appear at the top of the feed. And it’s also super easy to set up.

  • Twitter

Twitter Live can be done via Periscope. Periscope uses location data which gives you extra visibility. However, if you’re reading this in Sri Lanka, it wouldn’t be our best recommendation as most of us are still getting the hang of Twitter here.

  • YouTube Live

Not the easiest to setup but it offers several features, we’ll write more on it on a whole new story. Yes, that’s going to be a lot of information.

Thanks to social media live streaming, we are able to reach audiences that are completely out of our reach. Best part is that all this is made available with just a few clicks on your phone.

We hope you use these tools for your next event.
